Very visible gains with invisible braces.

Braces used to be a form of a ‘sentence’ for youngsters, but thankfully, those days are long gone. And here’s why.

We read a very intersting article recently on the website of the World Health Organisation – it was on the topic of adolescent health. Adolescents are defined as young people between the ages of ten and nineteen, and by and large, they are regarded as a healthy societal group. That’s not to say, of course, that there can’t be deaths within this cohort due to accidents, the scourge of suicide, or violent episodes.

But thankfully, these are still relatively infrequent, and ten to nineteen is a great age to be if you want to enjoy aggressively good health. One area, however, where adolescents are liable to experience a medial problem relates to crooked or overcrowded teeth.

Adolescence is the time when abnormaliites in the teeth formation start to become obvious. And for more and more Irish adolescents, it's almost become a rite of passage that they’ll be fored to wear invisible braces for a period of time.

Now, you might be inclined to say that wearing braces is not the end of the world – but you'd be wrong. Why? Well, because adolescence is a time of our lives when we tend to still be making our way in the world, trying to find out what it's all about – and what our role is in the whole shebang that we call life.

We can be lacking in the self-confidence that hopefully comes with advancing years, so being ‘sentenced’ to wear braces for up to a couple of years can seem like the end of the world.

Happily, there is a better way.

One of the most eagerly sought-after advances in dentistry was in the area of braces. The revolutionary form of braces that we use here at MyDental is called QuickBraces, and it has a whole host of benefits over those old-fashioned ‘train tracks’.

• First of all, the new form of braces can fix the problems of crooked or overcrowded teeth in as little as six months. That’s a majorly big deal when you're in your mid-teens, as otherwise you could be looking at 24 months – or even longer in certain cases.

• Our QuickBraces are also very comfortable compared to their older counterparts. They’re manufactured from an ultra-light materaial – and this exerts less pressure than older forms of invisible braces. This means that they're way more comfortable and discreet to wear.

• The third big benefit might surprise you, because it relates to cost. Clear braces in Dublin now cost a fraction of what they did in the past. This is because you spend less time in the dentist’s chair (six months versus 24 months), so there’s a huge saving in professional time billed to you. And remember that you can ask to spread the cost with our 0% Dental Finance Plan.
