We had a great response to our recent blog about celebrities who had orthodontic or other dental work carried out, to give them the sort of Hollywood smile that they felt would be more appropriate to their new-found stardom.
Our readers are a font of useless information – just like ourselves – and managed to come up with a few other great examples of celebs with great gnashers. The first of these was Miley Cyrus. As a teenager, she had crooked teeth that added to her girl next door charm, but as she aged, she looked to become more sophisticated.
After she said goodbye to the Disney Channel as Hannah Montana, she had her teeth straightened and whitened, and they’ve become an integral part of the older and more daring image that she sports these days.
Another actress who has significant work done, according to our readers, was Deni Moore. She is famous for appearing to defy the effects of aging, and made sure that her teeth looked like those of a woman half her age. At one stage in her career, Demi’s teeth looked a tad old and yellow, so she had veneers fitted, and got a little bit of straightening carried out as well.
Another Hollywood star who had work done is Jim Carrey, star of The Mask, Pet Detective etc. You might remember the distinctive chipped tooth he wore in Dumb and Dumber, which was very much a part of the visual signature of the character. Apparently, Jim had the tooth bonded, but sometimes removes it to amuse his adoring fans.
Another one that surprised us was Catherine Zeta Jones. We always assumed that she had been born a perfect beauty, but apparently not so. As a child, she was teased for her crooked teeth so paid a visit to the orthodontist in her early teens and ended up with the beautiful, straight teeth that this stunning beauty sports today.
The moral of this story is that there’s simply no need to go through life with a smile that you're not proud of. No matter what the problem may be, there’s a dental solution for it, whether it's braces, veneers or simply a whitening treatment.
And it might surprise you to know that you don't need a Hollywood-style salary to afford such treatment. This is because most dental treatments have become much more streamlined these days, which means that they take less time, so we can afford to charge you less for our time.
There’s also more competition than ever, so you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to having dental work carried out in the capital. So if you're looking for an orthodontist Dublin is really a great place to start your search.
So if you think your smile could do with a little work and you’d like to emulate some of the superstars we’ve mentioned above, maybe it's time to do a little research into this topic. To get you started, may we recommend the Internet as the single biggest source of information. And make sure, of course, that your chosen dentists subscribe to the Code of Practice of the Irish Dental Council - (http://www.dentalcouncil.ie/g_dentalethics.php)
